The EC155: An example of thinking from the inside out.

{short description of image}

In designing a new medium twin, we decided to take a slightly different slant. In the case of the EC155, we focused our attention to the inside first, then progressed outside. Its interior was increased to seat up to 12 forward-facing passengers, plus two pilots (up from eight people and two pilots with the AS365). In addition to providing more overall cabin room, the width of the two rear sliding doors was enlarged 50 percent to enable easier access both in and out of the aircraft. Next, the EC155's cockpit was further enhanced by incorporating the latest Integrated Flight and Display System for improved in-flight safety, ease of maintenance and reduced pilot workload. And finally, the 5-blades Spheriflex main and Fenestron tail rotor systems were redesigned to offer greater performance, increased reliability and a smoother and quieter flight. All of which goes to show what can be achieved when you pursue a different angle of thinking.
